Final Movie poster

There is a fine line between viewer and spectator. The former is a more personalized reaction to an image while the latter is a more generalized expectation of a communal impression evoked by the video. It is difficult for me to separate the two in response to the movie poster I have selected.
    “Ace the Case” is not a movie I have seen, but the poster makes me want to because of the implied storyline. The perceived message of the visuals provide a more complex message. Your eye is first drawn to the centerpiece of Susan Sarandon standing proudly in front of a police car with her badge clearly showing. She exemplifies the strong woman, ready to kick butt and take names. Then you see the youngster with the animals. The fact that she is holding a rabbit and dog leash and has a mischievous smile on her face lets you know that this “cute” kid has a prominent role in solving the mystery.  Both play to differing stereotype of female characters. A male character is completely absent. Clearly these women are independent and can handle the case on their own.  And from their respective poses, the spectator is led to assume a team capable of protecting the neighborhood against evil.
    The “Ace the Case” poster ties together the images of the strong female adult with the cute female child. The spectator can interpret this as depicting the strength of women. As a viewer, it’s a movie I’d like to see.

Saving the animals from abuse by educating those that need it to stop the abuse on earth.

my movie idea for Kent K-9 super hero

When a massive asteroid collides with his home planet, Kent (a canine) is one of the few to escape by rocket. Landing on earth, he quickly realizes his is not the dominant species. Disguising his advanced intelligence and superpowers, he begins to like these humans who are almost at his level. But there are some who would, through neglect and malice, harm his brethren.  His quest is to prevent and educate this while escaping the scientists who would lock him up in their lab for study. He hides in plain sight as a normal earth dog.

                The poster will be centered on Kent in his Superdog costume. Around him will be placed scenes of canine cruelty, both of abuse and neglect. The catchphrase will be “He came from another planet to make ours more human”.

I took inspiration from these movies and posters. With the top 4 movies put the dog or main dog in the front and bigger than everything else putting them as priority.

This is using a few light colors to draw you into the middle where the dog looks like it is coming out of and putting more emphasis on the main dog then on the other characters.. 

An interesting camo background to not distract from the main dog who is bigger than the dogs behind him.  Which some of them would be much bigger in person.

Using the space wisely with everything but the dog fading in the background.

 Giving emphasis on the dog in the cape with the world taking up less space and in the background.

With only sky in the background and keeping symmetry and balance on both sides from the middle.

The background is the Chicago skyline where my father and his side is from after moving here from Germany.  The Murphysboro sign is for mother's family and where she grew-up and we have moved back to the house she grew-up in and her father built.  The farm and horse is for where I grew-up having horses and a lot of land with other animals too.  The computer with the animals picture is for the 2 chooses I wanted to be when I grew-up.  The books are for me going to school and the SIU sign on top of the books is for where I went and grew-up being around because my father worked there.  The picture of me is holding a honors certificate and I try to always get good grades in school. The picture in the top left corner is Enola King, my great aunt that had a big influence in my life and in the clouds because she has passed away. The 2 pictures on the bottom are of my parents and in the trees because they are my family and still with me here.

The pictures above show the some symmetry and balance of white space that I did for a class earlier this year.  

Motorola uses the the white against the black to show the white M icon for Motorola and used symmetry to make the M icon.

Toyota used symmetry for their icon and white space to make the icon and name pop out at you.

The butterfly is balanced as for if you take a line down the middle it would be the same.

the picture is well balanced and in symmetry with using the black and white colors and the same patterns followed on both sides.

Introduction
